Crypto Trading Regulations

Governments from around the world are seeking to keep the control of crypto markets under their thumb. However, it will take some time until exact policies would be constructed and even more so until they are implemented in the industry. However, the AML and KYC regulations are in place. Thus, we would advise our clients to keep up with the verification requirements, especially as these are meant for anti-money laundering.

Crypto Trading Regulations and Tax Implicaitons

Make sure you understand governmental view on cryptocurrencies and crypto trade. In some countries, trading coins would not land you within their tax jurisdiction as coins are not officially recognized yet. However, in others (USA, EU), you are expected to report your operations and provide income statement for tax.

Crypto Trading Regulations - The Future

We can all expect governments to take further actions regarding cryptocurrency regulation. The KYC and AML policies will be implemented on all major platforms, sooner or later, while that trading platforms that do not wish to oblige will move towards the grey area. Thus, the news regarding S. Korea's call for global cooperation regarding digital coin regulation came as no surprise.

Due to the level of scams and hacking in the industry, regulative bodies would be looking for ways to protect investor body while keeping the market under check.

Question regarding future crypto trading regulations

It seems to me the United States is becoming more and more strict with regards to regulating trading with cryptocurrencies. One example is the ban on most ICO participations. Another is the fact that a lot of exchanges are starting to delist US citizens because they don't want to deal with the stringency imposed by the US government with regards to securities laws (e.g. bitfinex recently). Indeed, there is so much legal grey area when it comes to trading in crypto so it is not a surprise to me. But will these added regulations ever end?
In my own opinion, as crazy as it might sound, I feel like China will soon be more ahead in the game when it comes to these laws. I think after the 19th national congress, which is coming very soon, these regulations will be more clear and we will see a huge surge in trading of Chinese altcoins and utilization of Chinese blockchains. There is no way they'll actually ban exchanges as rumored, rather they just want to make more official how they will go about with their regulations. Of course, that is just my opinion (and based off the general consensus I feel having talked with many Chinese natives). It is ridiculous in my opinion that only accredited US investors with millions of dollars can be a part of many ICOs (in some cases), yet normal individual citizens can't, and that US citizens are continually being blacklisted from many exchanges. I also think the US will go through a similar process as China did with regard to exchange bans because of reasons similar.
What do you guys think?

When Bitwise Asset Management declared in a March 2019 presentation to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission that 95% of the Bitcoin (BTC) trading volume being reported globally on cryptocurrency exchanges was “fake,” it jolted rating firms, exchanges and the larger crypto world. Venezuela to Release its Own Cryptocurrency Petro

On October 1st, the Venezuelan government announced the official date for Petro cryptocurrency release into the market. The crypto is developed and controlled by the authorities, with the coin pegged to the country's oil value.

However, the announcement came with many critics, both domestic and foreign-based. The opposition, general crypto community and experts in the financial fields expressed their doubts whether this new measure will help the government to control hyperinflation Bolivar.
It remains to be seen how the market will react and whether the 110 million worth of supply will help Venezuelan economy to recover. More importantly, if successful, it will be interesting how bitcoin (and other alts) will react to a new player in the industry.
In the meantime, U.S. will not sit by idly, with President Trump already ordering domestic exchanges not to accept the said crypto.

Importance of Crypto Regulations

Regulations for crypto businesses do help clients to feel secure. Many hacking and scam attempts can be avoided if there is a courtroom that would get them out of the "business". Additionally, insurance would be available while new projects would get necessary funding from the government. Keep an eye on authorities and their plans for the future regarding crypto trade and platforms that operate within the market.
