Swipe opened the month of August with the launch of its Swipe Network Staking and its announcement to run a Decentralized Finance Lending/Earn application on Binance Smart Chain. This was also followed by the plan to release product updates, events, listings, or partnerships every week until the end of 2020.
Bringing their promise and commitment true to the public, here are the activities that Swipe has released for the past two weeks:

Swipe Launches Staking/DeFi
Swipe has recently launched its test network for Swipe Network Testnet Staking and, at the same time, announced its plans to launch a Decentralized Finance Lending/Earn application on Binance Smart Chain.
With the launch of the Swipe Network testnet, users can use the Swipe Faucet to grab testnet-SXP to use on the decentralized finance application. Users will be able to bond SXP to the Swipe Network smart contract as collateral to ensure the guarantee of conversions for these exchanges. A reserve system in place to lock SXP and guarantee that the merchant and payment networks receive the exact fiat amount is in place as Swipe facilitates real-time conversions on-demand.
Users will receive up 12% APY on their staked SXP within the Swipe Network off-chain and a variable rate for on-chain. Swipe plans to enable staked SXP to earn the processing fees it charges in the future as well on top of the collateral rewards from staking.
Also, Swipe revealed its plans to launch a DeFi App on Binance Chain called SwipeFi, which will enable Binance Chain tokens to be used to earn interest on their supply of collateral to the protocol and borrow against their collateral directly on the Binance blockchain.
Swipe (SXP) Trading Competition
Last August 5 to 12, Swipe and Binance team have both committed a total of 100,000 SXP and 50,000 USDT in prizes to thank its users worldwide for their continued support and to also celebrate the Swipe acquisition and SXP/USDT listing in Futures, Margin and Spot markets. The contest was divided into three categories: a new user exclusive rewards, a trading competition, and the Lucky 99, which awarded users ranked 99th, 199th, 299th, 399th, and so forth until the 9999th place of the top 10,000 SXP traders based on their trading volume.
Swipe x WBTC
Swipe has partnered with WBTC Network and has officially been approved as a merchant for WBTC minting through the WBTC Network’s DAO Governance process. Swipe Wallet users will be able to benefit from instantly wrapping Bitcoin BTC to Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) and vice versa with just a few clicks. Swipe has also listed WBTC on the Swipe Wallet platform and Swipe Visa Card to enable users to buy, sell, exchange, and spend WBTC at over 60 million merchants worldwide.
SXP on CoinDCX
SXP, the native token of Swipe, is now listed and live on its second Indian Exchange CoinDCX. Trading for $SXP token is now live for CoinDCX users who wish to trade SXP/BTC and SXP/USDT.

Wazirx AMA Session
Swipe Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joselito Lizarondo, held an AMA session with the Telegram community of Wazirx, a bitcoin exchange in India, last August 7. In the AMA session, Lizarondo answered questions about Swipe, Swipe Card, its new partnership with Binance, and the recent projects that the company has announced. The community also asked if Swipe is planning to bring its card services to India as it is one of the biggest crypto market countries at present.

New Swipe Product Manual
Swipe has released a new “redefined” white paper under the title: Swipe Product Manual. The Swipe Product Manual was designed with simplicity in mind for easy and coherent descriptions of the Swipe ecosystem of products. This will describe all of Swipe’s current and future products that the team has planned. Technical descriptions and documentation will be made available, as required, per protocol, as some will have API access for developers.
The Swipe Product Manual can be viewed by clicking here or by going to https://sw.pe/ProductManual or downloading https://swipe.io/ProductManual.pdf to your desktop.
Swipe 0% Fees
Starting Monday, August 17, Swipe Wallet and Swipe Card users will no longer have to pay any fees to buy, sell, and pay with crypto. Users can now purchase, sell, and convert cryptocurrencies to and from fiat currencies without the previous 1% fee. Swipe cardholders will also enjoy waived membership fees and free card shipping.
Swipe Staking
As Swipe prepares to launch the Swipe Network Staking mainnet, the Swipe Wallet application will support SXP staking. Users will enjoy staking rewards based on their SXP balances that are held on the Swipe Wallet beginning on August 23, 00:00 UTC.
More details of the staking can be viewed at:

Swipe Reddit AMA
In his first blog post on Medium, Swipe CEO Joselito Lizarondo answered the questions that the Reddit community asked regarding Swipe’s activities and plans for the future. He talked about the new partnership programs of Swipe, its newly released “Product Manual,” and the new roadmap, which will be kept in stealth “to focus on bringing maximum value to these announcements and products.”

Swipe and Kava Partnership
Swipe has formed a strategic partnership with Kava Labs to further grow the USDX DeFi Ecosystem as Swipe prepares to bring decentralized finance applications to the Binance Smart Chain. Swipe has also listed KAVA and USDX on the Swipe Wallet platform where users can buy and sell KAVA and USDX with a linked bank account or credit/debit card as well as enabled it to be converted and spent at over 60 million merchants worldwide with the Swipe Visa Card.
$16M+ Ecosystem Rewards Program for BNB Holders on Binance
Swipe is launching a 12-week-period $16,000,000 Ecosystem Rewards Program for BNB holders, starting August 17. This program aims to continue to promote the usage of Swipe products, including the Swipe Network Staking and Governance within a strong community. With Swipe’s partnership with Binance, a weekly distribution of 333,333.33 SXP will run to BNB holders on Binance.com.

Swipe’s Chainlink Based Price Oracles Now Live
Swipe has collaborated with Chainlink, the market-leading decentralized oracle network, to launch a live SXP-USD price oracle on the Ethereum mainnet. By switching to Chainlink, users receive stronger guarantees around trust and transparency in the payments process, as critical price feeds for the network are now completely decentralized and available to monitor on the blockchain.
This decentralized infrastructure ensures that reward issuances and token burns only take place based on accurate, highly available, and tamper-proof on-chain prices that have no single point of failure or absolute truth. Users can independently verify the current price, how price updates occur, which nodes are providing data to the network, and more. This means users no longer need to rely on Swipe to produce fair conversion rates.

BINANCE! FOUNDS NOT ARE SAFU #PART1

BINANCE! MONEY NOT SAFU! #BINANCE #BTC
A story about how your money can be taken from you and in return offer a VIP status and a bonus of $ 1,500. I show everything as objectively as possible
Binance users must understand what they are dealing with!
I ask you to repost anyone who is not indifferent to such a situation, tomorrow everyone can be in this situation.
I have been waiting patiently for a month now and trying to get me back the funds that disappeared from my spot account on 02.16.2020 after a failure of the exchange.
I also tried to achieve partial compensation due to which I lost on trading during the failure of the exchange. Correspondence month. From the beginning, Binance wrote that he had technical problems and they will solve everything. After a while, they gave different assumptions about where my funds disappeared, for each case I sent them evidence that the funds were not withdrawn, between the internal accounts did not disappear, etc. In the end, when they ran out of arguments, they simply wrote that they did not bear responsibility, suggested $ 1,500 consolation bonus and VIP Status.

BASIC Risk Management

BASIC Risk Management

https://preview.redd.it/v0c9g1yceix41.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=bbf36502148eacec1e6c5365b763432660f65366
BASIC is the next-generation crypto finance platform that allows lenders and borrowers from all over the world to better manage their crypto assets with enhanced capital efficiency. Today’s post will cover the Risk Management practices, that are implemented within the platform in order to establish efficient and stable ecosystem and in order to secure all the occuring financial transactions. Let us see the methodologies and tools, that are exploited by BASIC to address all the associated risks, that may occur in any given financial transaction.

BASIC’s Risk Management Practices

BASIC is actively exercising preemptive efforts in order to guarantee efficient and stable financial transactions on its platform, addressing all the associated risks, that may emerge in any given financial transaction. BASIC is applying risk management tools, that assist to alleviate all the associated risks, that can be found within this platform.

Risk classifications

▶ Volatility risk
BASIC has established a risk management system to recognize and address the high volatility of the digital assets. In the case of mortgage loans, there is always a requirement for a liquidation procedure under certain circumstances. Namely, if the market value of the collateral falls below a certain limit, you may be requested to provide additional collateral. If the requested amount of additional collateral is not stored within a specified period, the liquidation procedure will kick in and the required amount of collateral will be liquidated to secure the loan. The BASIC platform performs real-time volatility management practices. There is a tracking process of the price indexes of 6 different crypto exchanges, such as Coinbase, Bitfinex, Binance, Huobi, Bitstamp, and Kraken, where the prices of the crypto assets with an engineered volatility, placed as a collateral or borrowed as a loan in the BASIC’s platform, are tracked and based on them the LTV( Loan-to-Value) ratio is calculated. The abovementioned LTV management, hence risk management is performed by the Smart Risk Manager on an automatic basis. The volatility risk manager is currently programmed to warn and further take some certain actions at the following events and LTV rates:
  • At 65% LTV, the borrower receives warning notifications (Early Warning)
  • At 75% LTV, the borrower is requested to store additional collateral to diminish LTV to 65% (Margin Call)
  • At 85% LTV, the system will be forced to initiate a partial liquidation process to automatically lower the LTV to 75% (Margin Liquidation)
The BASIC platform has a liquidity engine system. It is BitGo’s internal clearing system, which allows you to stream placed orders in real-time, and liquidate large amounts of assets at a fixed price, without the presence of slippage.
▶ Default Risk
This risk could occur independently from the LTV, and two scenarios are probable depending on the nature of the loan (Secured and Unsecured).
  • Secured Loan
The default borrowing period for Basic is set to 3 days after maturity, and if there is an overdue balance outstanding on the day of liquidation, the amount of outstanding balance with a liquidation penalty added will be deducted from the collateral assets.
  • Unsecured Loan
Once the default occurs, 100% of the borrower’s total CREDIT (credit token) is going to be exterminated. At the same time, assets corresponding to the loan amount are going to be taken out from the Basic Insurance Fund and forced liquidation will kick in to protect the depositors.
▶ Overdue Risk
If the loan interest is not paid and remains in overdue status for a prolonged period of time, the following measures will be taken.
  • Secured Loan
The grace period for overdue interest is set to 3 days after maturity, and if there is an overdue balance outstanding after 3 days, the amount of outstanding balance with a liquidation discount rate (5%) added shall be deducted from the collateral assets.
  • Unsecured Loan
The grace period for overdue interest is set to 3 days after maturity, and if there is an overdue balance outstanding after 3 days, the amount of outstanding balance shall be withdrawn from the Basic Insurance Fund and 100% of the borrower’s total CREDIT is programmed to be burned.
▶ Counterparty Risk
Counterparty risk, which is prevalent in the trading and investment areas, is the likelihood or probability, that one of the two involved entities in a transaction might default on its contractual obligation. There are two primary sources of the counterparty risk in the process of collateral liquidation. The first one arises when the counterparty cannot make the required payments according to their obligations. The second one occurs, when the counterparty breaks the terms of the contract, hence defaulting on his contractual obligation. The relationship in the financial market is built upon trust. Hence, the counterparty risk or default risk can result in an overall deterioration of the credit market and further lead to a crisis. When there is a transaction being occurred within a platform of the BASIC, BitGo operates as a third party, who secures the process of escrowing the assets of the transacting participants. This risk management practice enables transacting parties to proactively identify and control the counterparty risk at the same level as financial firms.
▶ Slippage and Market Risks
In case of carrying out transactions on multiple digital asset exchanges, you may face a huge issue of inefficient digital asset distribution, which can adversely affect your balance sheet. This situation can further expose you to the Slippage and Market Risk, as the number of assets that need to be liquidated increases. On the contrary, BASIC platform enables easy and quickly offline trading with transacting parties in BitGo, through the virtual journal swaps. This practice, in turn, eliminates the slippage and market risks.
▶ Compliance Violation
Compliance violations can be applied to the withdrawal of assets at the time of the transaction. Currently, the majority of digital asset platform companies randomly distribute assets to multiple digital asset exchanges for trading purposes. In fact, this kind of approach affects the balance sheet and can lead to regulatory compliance violations. The BASIC platform is capable of reducing market and slipper risks, whilst keeping business efficiency at the highest level, by trading with trading partners within the BitGo’s system. This, in turn, will enable you to maintain stable transactions in a quite liquid market.
▶ Legal and Regulatory Compliance Risk
Basic implements strict and thorough anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism-financing preventive measures at the level of traditional financial institutions in accordance with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations and guidelines. This practice allows to thoroughly verify the identity of the client and to establish anti-money laundering preventive measures, which are both de facto essential factors to ensure the safety and legitimacy of the digital assets handling. To mitigate and identify in advance the risks associated with the compliance or regulation, BASIC’s legal team is staying up-to-date with the legal and regulatory compliances over the crypto assets.

      • Prior to this loan, those stable coins did not exist.
      • The stable coins were "Minted" as a direct result of collateralization that spawned the loan.
    • In regards to Kava, users deposit collateral (like BNB) in order to "mint" USDX - which ultimately represents the loan that the user will receive.

BASIC

The BASIC platform has a liquidity engine system. It is BitGo’s internal clearing system, which allows you to stream placed orders in real-time, and liquidate large amounts of assets at a fixed price, without the presence of slippage.
▶ Default Risk
This risk could occur independently from the LTV, and two scenarios are probable depending on the nature of the loan (Secured and Unsecured).
The default borrowing period for Basic is set to 3 days after maturity, and if there is an overdue balance outstanding on the day of liquidation, the amount of outstanding balance with a liquidation penalty added will be deducted from the collateral assets.
The grace period for overdue interest is set to 3 days after maturity, and if there is an overdue balance outstanding after 3 days, the amount of outstanding balance with a liquidation discount rate (5%) added shall be deducted from the collateral assets.

Keep Updated with BASIC Platform!

Thank you for reading. If you would like to keep updated with BASIC’s activities, please follow our social media channels below.

Margin level formula breakdown

Since the original post on /BinanceExchange didn't get any attention, I'm trying my luck here.
I'm trying to make sense of the formula for margin level calculation as brought out here: Margin Level = Total Asset Value / (Total Borrowed + Total Accrued Interest)
For example, if my collateral is 1 BTC, ETH/BTC price is 0.1 and I borrowed 10 ETH, how would the following values be calculated? - Total Asset Value - Total Borrowed - Total Accrued Interest
Is everything calculated in terms of base (ETH) or quote (BTC) asset?
An example based on my intuition. Let's say hour=1 and eth_hourly_interest_rate=0.001: - Total Asset Value = 1 BTC collateral + (10 ETH * current_price) = 2 BTC - Total Borrowed = 10 ETH * price_at_borrow = 1 BTC - Total Accrued Interest = hour * eth_hourly_interest_rate * current_price = 1 * 0.001 * 0.1 = 0.0001 BTC Therefore, margin level = 2 / (1 + 0.0001) = ~1.998
In this example, both current_price and price_at_borrow are the same for simplicity, but current_price would change after borrow while price_at_borrow will stay the same.

trading on margin vs futures, derivatives, etc

To followup on previous post:
https://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/g09cuk/good_exchange_to_short_btc_for_us_citizens/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x
I looked at Phemex, Bybit, or Deribit but I don't know anything about trading derivatives. And I don't want to trade bitcoin.
My goal is buy more tezos with borrowed money. Kraken is too expensive. Binance forbids US residents and they do KYC even if they say they don't for small amount. Kucoin does not look reliable but at least 6 times cheaper in margin interest compared to Kraken. Kraken charges margin interest every 4 hours. Kucoin charges the same amount in 1 day. I don't want to use coinbase because they report to IRS and is a tax nightmare for me.
Questions:
  1. what exchanges out there let you trade altcoins with margin for someone living in US besides kraken, coinbase?
  2. what do you feel about trading futures, derivatives? I know nothing about them.

03-18 08:14 - 'Margin and Futures has taken btc down just like they did the traditional Markets...' (self.Bitcoin) by /u/hackercoolio removed from /r/Bitcoin within 2683-2693min

'''
Until September 2019, When Binance launched it's Margin and Futures trading things were looking okay.. but one international panic caused further panic selling due to margin account liquidations. And as for Futures it took the liquidity out of the spot trading (not to mention Altcoins).. which further broke any logical market support levels. Well Over 95% of crypto community lost in last couple of weeks (Especially last few days) and it's only the begining of the end. Crypto was supposed to be a solution to Finance 1.0 Turmoil, but instead it has joined forces with it to create larger shitstorm. Many of the serious investors have taken substantial hits.. some losing millions. Don't expect recovery anytime soon. I personally can think of only one possible solution.. which is that Bitcoin breaks down all it's gains and resets. And then we start from square one. Even then investor and market confidence has been shaken out like never before. And unlike traditional Markets there is no one to bail out crypto. No exchanges will compensate, no whales will jump back in. Right now everything is tied to market manipulation based on news. Next wave of bad news is going to break bitcoins longest standing support of 3200. Mark my words. Enjoy the death spiral boys. Walk out while you can. And avoid using leveraged exchanges.
Over and out.

03-11 16:45 - 'Coinburrow perpetual Algo Launched' (self.Bitcoin) by /u/Material_Brick removed from /r/Bitcoin within 163-173min

'''
The Australia-based exchange said Wednesday in a blog post that its new “Perpetual Algo” feature provides leverage up to three times or "3x" for individual investors in 30 countries and 23 U.S. states, including the lucrative New York market. The leverage is also available to institutional traders in 44 states and Twenty Five countries.
The 3x leverage matches C’oinBurrow’s previous margin offering from 2017. CoinBurrow, led by Analyst Allyssa Sosa, briefly offered margin trading at the time, but suspended the service later in the year. Executives had been signaling since early 2019 that they were considering reviving the effort.
The resurgent push by Coinburrow comes as competition heats up among the world’s crypto exchanges, and the biggest players are scrambling to attract customers and transaction volumes with new digital-token listings and features like better trading technology, more leverage and more-secure custody options.
“Perpetual Algo” has been one of our most requested features," Coinburrow said in the blog post.
Several big non-U.S.-based exchanges, including Binance, BitMEX and Deribit, offer leverage of 100 times or more on futures contracts and other derivatives, but many of those offerings are off-limits to American customers. While U.S. traders can get leverage to buy regulated bitcoin futures contracts on the CME and Intercontinental Exchange’s Bakkt division, those venues require special accounts to trade commodities.
Leverage is considered risky in trading because it boosts the chances of losses alongside the enhanced potential for gains.
In an example of how Coinburrow’s new offering will work, traders could put $2999 down and continue up to $10000 of bitcoin from the exchange for trading with bitcoin perpetual Algo, increasing the potential size of the bet to x2-x3 worth of bitcoin. If bitcoin’s price climbs by 33 percent, traders would double their original investment.
In the blog post, Coinburrow said the perpetual funds can be used to trade other cryptocurrencies, in addition to tripling-down on a single digital asset like bitcoin: " If deployed as part of a responsible trading strategy perpetual trading algo doesn’t just increase your position in a specific trade but can also help diversify your portfolio, allowing you to hedge or arbitrage across multiple positions without depositing additional capital."
Coinburrow is notable because it is one of only a few big cryptocurrency exchanges based in Australia., submitting to the nation’s strict regulations in exchange for access to customers from the world’s largest economy. Started in the early years of the crypto industry in 2017, Coinburrow has long been used by cryptocurrency newcomers as an “on-ramp” into bitcoin and other digital assets from dollars and other government-issued money. The company now claims to have more than 30 thousand users.
[EARN FROM THE NEW INNOVATION ( COINBURROW.]1 . )
With coinburrow you can mine various kind of cryptocurrency based on what you are familiar with and how much you can afford, Also it based on how long you want the investment span to be.. You can invest $2999 and earn unto $5000 over a period of 55 days¦ You can also invest in the Bitcoin perpetual Algo, where you can earn over a period a year or 2 years.. [Cloud Mining I Crypto Investment]2 COINBURROW Can help you build your wealth while you continue with your day to day earnings.

One of which is, wallets will be auto-named after creation. A ton more upgrades to be released. Sentivate announced a reorganisation in the company in order to devote full focus on Sentivate. The parent company will close and all resources will move to Sentivate. Here’s another use-case story to emphasise the potential of Universal Web. In the latest community vote on Blockfolio, folks voted overwhelmingly Yes on whether they would like to see more explainer articles on web tech. Also, the epic shoutout from Scott Melker (The Wolf Of All Streets) has to be the best thing ever!
Updated Sentivate roadmap for next 3 months
Pynk travelled to the Web Summit in Lisbon (wonder if they crossed paths with Hydro and SelfKey teams) as an official delegate of the Mayor's International Business Programme and were featured by KPMG. What is margin trading in crypto

What is margin trading in crypto

https://preview.redd.it/lja28ou39qd41.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=dd157b148f210a4246f76c07a84a2378d7ed1edf
Margin trading means trading using borrowed funds. This allows you to trade larger amounts to get more profit from a single trade and increase your deposit faster. The amount allocated for the trade is provided as a credit.
It should be understood that trading with leverage involves high risks and is recommended only for professionals and experienced traders. If your forecast is incorrect, there is a risk of losing all the money on the deposit.
When opening a position, a parameter such as the liquidation price is displayed - this indicator means that when the specified rate is reached, the position is automatically closed, and the funds allocated for the trade are completely debited from the account and returned to the exchange. The higher the leverage, the closer the liquidation price is and, consequently, the higher the risks are. To avoid losses, it is recommended to allocate no more than 5-10% of the Deposit per trade, depending on the leverage size.
The second nuance that needs to be taken into account is the fees. When using leverage, the trader pays a fee in proportion to the total amount of the trade. That is, using 100x leverage, the trader will pay a fee a hundred times more, so if the forecast is not correct, the losses will be even greater. In addition to the loss from the price difference, if the exchange fee is 0.1%, the trader will lose additional 10%.

Where to trade crypto with leverage

The most popular platform for margin trading in crypto is BitMEX. The platform supports leverage up to 100x, but the selection of cryptocurrencies is small: Bitcoin and a few of the largest altcoins are available to traders. Another popular platform that provides trading with leverage is Poloniex. In 2019, Binance added margin trading as well. The last two sites are required to pass a verification for use of borrowed funds.
Traders can trade on Binance, BitMEX and Poloniex using a convenient terminal from Trade-mate.io. The platform supports Autotrade and Smart trade with trailing mechanisms. Recently, the service added support for margin trading on BitMEX via the API. Trade-mate.io was the first service of its kind to provide such an opportunity. To protect users' funds, leverage is limited to 25x.

Answers to the straight questions to the GV Team

Hi all! Recently we had a bunch of great questions that were asked in the Reddit, right over here: https://www.reddit.com/genesisvision/comments/bbtolk/straight_questions_to_the_gv_team_ten_so_fa
We took some time to prepare a reply and here it is!

Hello.
I am Ruslan Kamenskiy, the person responsible for the GV products in our team.
Thank you for the many questions. I will try to answer them as fully as possible, but before answering, I would like to make a small introduction so that members of the community understand more why things are happening anyway.
- Development of any project is always a series of trade-offs. Resources are always limited and the need to choose where to send them is always present. Our task is to distribute our resources optimally considering short-term missions and long-term objectives.
- We have a very active and large community. It consists of many different representatives. Everyone has their own needs, expectations, problems and pains. And often in some decisions, you need to look for a middle ground, and you can not please everyone. Investors want maximum security, minimum commissions and maximum profits. Managers want huge investments, minimum responsibility and maximum opportunities. Brokers and exchanges want maximum trading volumes from us. And many requirements of different market participants contradict each other. Therefore, we must always look for optimal solutions.
- As I said, we have a vast and active community. And as a result, we have a tremendous amount of feedback and suggestions. Every day they come to us from all channels (feedback portal, social networks, Reddit, support mail, and even private messages in telegram). Right now in our task tracker in backlog 160 feedbacks are hanging for implementation. We appreciate the feedback of our users, but unfortunately, due to limited resources, we cannot implement everything at the same time, so we prioritise requests and suggestions. It is excruciating for us to receive messages from our users stating "I suggested this a month ago, but this has not been implemented yet," but we hope for understanding. We are trying.
- Investors want the maximum possible profit with minimal risk. But this is impossible. If we go the route of the maximum of investors' safety (for example, we prohibit trading with leverage, we make maximum stop-outs, etc.), this will minimise the potential investor's profit and make the platform uninteresting for managers. We try to find the right balance between protecting investors from rogue managers and allowing investors to make informed on their decisions based on the analytical tools we provide to create transparency in the managers’ trading strategies. However, we do not believe that restricting managers too much is the best path forward for the ecosystem. We view our job as creating a fully transparent system that allows participants to make highly educated decisions => it is then up to them to take ownership of said decision.
- Almost every day we get the questions "When exactly this will be." We have internal deadlines for the implementation of various functions, but to make public statements about the exact date of the implementation of some functionality is not always the best idea, because there are many factors affecting the real state of affairs. And the delay, even for a couple of hours, is always perceived by the community as extremely negative. But we do not refuse to share information about our current work and immediate plans.
Why do you allow numerous programs by the same manager? Do you intend to curtail it to a limited number? If yes, how many? When will you implement?
Allowing managers to have several programs is necessary for the following reasons:
All information on the number and performance of all programs is public and available to investors.
Do you intend to pose restrictions on entry and success fees to prevent exploitative fees? If yes, what restrictions and when will you implement?
Restrictions on maximum fees are already present. At the same time, this information is available in the program details, which allows the investor to evaluate all the sizes of the commissions before making a decision on investing. Additionally, in order to avoid exploitative fees, the entry fee is charged only for programs that have reached level 3. All this together provides, in our opinion, a fairly transparent system of commissions, in which the investor has all the necessary information to make an educated decision. However, if you have any specific constructive suggestions for improving the system, we are always happy to listen and take them into account.
Do you intend to start adopting some form of intervention when a trader goes on downward money losing spiral? Some form of trading floor manager action after x% losses? If yes, how and when? If not, why not?
We have introduced the Stop-out functionality, just designed to limit the loss of investors. This is an industry standard solution that helps solve the problem described.
Do you intend to impose a cool-down time limit or even fee increase limit to prevent managers to close a program and immediately reopen another one? If yes, what/when will you implement?
Managers close and open new programs for various reasons, which is a normal workflow, and we do not want to artificially limit them in this. At the same time, information about the number of manager’s programs, as well as their performance, is public and available to investors for analysis. This information, in our opinion, should be sufficient to determine how honest a particular manager acts.
Do you intend to implement some form of deletion? In which way? When?
The level system is currently being analyzed and re-thought. At the same time, our community takes an active part in this process. Actual information can be obtained in our telegram (work on this is going right now).
Do you intend to return entree fees when a program that is announced for a period of X days terminates the program before the end of the period? When?
Entry fee is charged starting from 3rd level programs. This means that this is not a new program, but already having a certain history of successful trading.
However, your proposal is absolutely reasonable, and in some situations, returning an entry fee may be a fair decision. We are currently working on this issue and are considering how to improve the current situation.
Do you intend to implement a policy so that entry fees only vest if the manager makes more profit, net of success fees, than what was charged in the entry fee? When?
If you think about it, then this is quite a delicate issue, and we cannot count everything only by profit. I will give a specific example - in the first case, the investor invests 1 BTC in the Forex program, according to the results of the period, the manager does not show a substantial profit (say, he does not cover the entry fee minus the success fee), but during this time the whole crypto market has fallen by 50% (and we all know that this happens). Formally, the conditions for obtaining the entry fee you described are not met, but the manager has helped the investor save (and even multiply) his BTC holdings.
Here’s another situation - the investor invests the same 1 BTC in the ETH program, the manager shows a profit sufficient to pay the entry fee according to your policy, but due to a significant drop in the cost of the ETH, the investor is still in the red.
So who of these managers really deserves the entry fee? We believe both. Entry Fee is available to programs only from level 3, which means that the manager has successful trading experience, although even with many programs this value is set to zero. A performance-based fee is a success fee, and the entry fee, taking into account all factors, is wiser to leave unconditional, in order to observe the interests of all categories of users.
Do you intend to review the way the GVT token is used in the platform to actually create demand for the token? What are the ideas that you have recently been discussing? When are any of those ideas likely to be implemented?
Yes, we are constantly working on this issue. Some ideas have been described in recent blog posts (GVT burning, profit distribution in GVT, payment of a subscription for copying in GVT)
Nowadays, while the platform have programs with not too much capital, the amount of GVT required to get a discount does not make economic sense. Would you consider a temporary reduction in the number of GVT one needs to hold to get discounts on fees, in the same vein that Binance had very friendly reduced fees in its first year?
We have a discount for GVT holders selling on GM in the same way asBinance has discounts for holding BNB on their exchange. And you need to understand that Binance had very friendly fees during a completely different state of the crypto market. The capitalization of all cryptocurrency grew and was much easier to keep them low then it is now.
But we are working in this direction.
We already know you are planning a new level system. What are some additional concrete investor protection actions the GV team plans to implement? When can we expect them to be implemented?
The system of levels is now being revised with the participation of the community. Actual information can be obtained in our telegram (i.e., work on this is underway right now)
Will you rethink the functionality and design of the reinvestment toggle, and add clear labels so that users do not have their money tied up in funds that they do not wish to invest in? If yes, when?
The reinvest button has already been renamed to “Reinvest profit” for better understanding.
When and how will the UI be revamped (The dashboard, so it is clearer how investments are performing; More filters; Display of overall manager performance across all their programs)?
Regarding the question “how”, I can not answer shortly. For the answer, you would need to write a whole article, but you can be sure that we are constantly working on improving the UI based on your feedback. If you have been following the development of the platform for a long time, you might notice that with each major update, the UI changes significantly. This is due to the fact that Genesis Vision is a complex system with a lot of information, so it is often possible to find the right balance between informational content and convenience only through trial and error and only with the active participation of product users.
Will there be a way to withdraw everything at the next ending of a period? When/how are you going to implement this?
Yes, it is already being worked on, but we cannot point to an exact date at the moment.
Could you study a way to enable investors to withdraw invested money before the end of the reporting period, in particular if there is money not currently allocated to a trade? What is your thinking about alternative ways to implement this?
This issue is not so obvious. If you withdraw funds during the trading period, this can disrupt the manager's trading strategy. Even if these funds are now free, they can be used to maintain margins when trading with leverage. And if you take the money, then Margin Call will happen (and then Stop out) and all investors will lose money, because funds are not enough to maintain the position.

Beginner’s Guide to BitMEX

Beginner’s Guide to BitMEX

https://preview.redd.it/fl5e0q7i3cc41.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=445485d722839a9adc1ae13db4c965b0ae3e67b7
Founded by HDR Global Trading Limited (which in turn was founded by former bankers Arthur Hayes, Samuel Reed and Ben Delo) in 2014, BitMEX is a trading platform operating around the world and registered in the Seychelles.
Meaning Bitcoin Mercantile Exchange, BitMEX is one of the largest Bitcoin trading platforms currently operating, with a daily trading volume of over 35,000 BTC and over 540,000 accesses monthly and a trading history of over $34 billion worth of Bitcoin since its inception.

https://preview.redd.it/coenpm4k3cc41.jpg?width=808&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8832dcafa5bd615b511bbeb6118ef43d73ed785e
Unlike many other trading exchanges, BitMEX only accepts deposits through Bitcoin, which can then be used to purchase a variety of other cryptocurrencies. BitMEX specialises in sophisticated financial operations such as margin trading, which is trading with leverage. Like many of the exchanges that operate through cryptocurrencies, BitMEX is currently unregulated in any jurisdiction.
Visit BitMEX

How to Sign Up to BitMEX

In order to create an account on BitMEX, users first have to register with the website. Registration only requires an email address, the email address must be a genuine address as users will receive an email to confirm registration in order to verify the account. Once users are registered, there are no trading limits. Traders must be at least 18 years of age to sign up.
https://preview.redd.it/0v13qoil3cc41.jpg?width=808&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6134bc089c4e352dce10d754dc84ff11a4c7994
However, it should be noted that BitMEX does not accept any US-based traders and will use IP checks to verify that users are not in the US. While some US users have bypassed this with the use of a VPN, it is not recommended that US individuals sign up to the BitMEX service, especially given the fact that alternative exchanges are available to service US customers that function within the US legal framework.
How to Use BitMEX
BitMEX allows users to trade cryptocurrencies against a number of fiat currencies, namely the US Dollar, the Japanese Yen and the Chinese Yuan. BitMEX allows users to trade a number of different cryptocurrencies, namely Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Litecoin, Monero, Ripple, Tezos and Zcash.
The trading platform on BitMEX is very intuitive and easy to use for those familiar with similar markets. However, it is not for the beginner. The interface does look a little dated when compared to newer exchanges like Binance and Kucoin’s.
Once users have signed up to the platform, they should click on Trade, and all the trading instruments will be displayed beneath.
Clicking on the particular instrument opens the orderbook, recent trades, and the order slip on the left. The order book shows three columns – the bid value for the underlying asset, the quantity of the order, and the total USD value of all orders, both short and long.
The widgets on the trading platform can be changed according to the user’s viewing preferences, allowing users to have full control on what is displayed. It also has a built in feature that provides for TradingView charting. This offers a wide range of charting tool and is considered to be an improvement on many of the offering available from many of its competitors.
https://preview.redd.it/fabg1nxo3cc41.jpg?width=808&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d939889c3eac15ab1e78ec37a8ccd13fc5e0573
Once trades are made, all orders can be easily viewed in the trading platform interface. There are tabs where users can select their Active Orders, see the Stops that are in place, check the Orders Filled (total or partially) and the trade history. On the Active Orders and Stops tabs, traders can cancel any order, by clicking the “Cancel” button. Users also see all currently open positions, with an analysis if it is in the black or red.
BitMEX uses a method called auto-deleveraging which BitMEX uses to ensure that liquidated positions are able to be closed even in a volatile market. Auto-deleveraging means that if a position bankrupts without available liquidity, the positive side of the position deleverages, in order of profitability and leverage, the highest leveraged position first in queue. Traders are always shown where they sit in the auto-deleveraging queue, if such is needed.
Although the BitMEX platform is optimized for mobile, it only has an Android app (which is not official). There is no iOS app available at present. However, it is recommended that users use it on the desktop if possible.
BitMEX offers a variety of order types for users:
  • Limit Order (the order is fulfilled if the given price is achieved);
  • Market Order (the order is executed at current market price);
  • Stop Limit Order (like a stop order, but allows users to set the price of the Order once the Stop Price is triggered);
  • Stop Market Order (this is a stop order that does not enter the order book, remain unseen until the market reaches the trigger);
  • Trailing Stop Order (it is similar to a Stop Market order, but here users set a trailing value that is used to place the market order);
  • Take Profit Limit Order (this can be used, similarly to a Stop Order, to set a target price on a position. In this case, it is in respect of making gains, rather than cutting losses);
  • Take Profit Market Order (same as the previous type, but in this case, the order triggered will be a market order, and not a limit one)
The exchange offers margin trading in all of the cryptocurrencies displayed on the website. It also offers to trade with futures and derivatives – swaps.

Futures and Swaps

A futures contract is an agreement to buy or sell a given asset in the future at a predetermined price. On BitMEX, users can leverage up to 100x on certain contracts.
Perpetual swaps are similar to futures, except that there is no expiry date for them and no settlement. Additionally, they trade close to the underlying reference Index Price, unlike futures, which may diverge substantially from the Index Price.
BitMEX also offers Binary series contracts, which are prediction-based contracts which can only settle at either 0 or 100. In essence, the Binary series contracts are a more complicated way of making a bet on a given event.
The only Binary series betting instrument currently available is related to the next 1mb block on the Bitcoin blockchain. Binary series contracts are traded with no leverage, a 0% maker fee, a 0.25% taker fee and 0.25% settlement fee.

Bitmex Leverage

BitMEX allows its traders to leverage their position on the platform. Leverage is the ability to place orders that are bigger than the users’ existing balance. This could lead to a higher profit in comparison when placing an order with only the wallet balance. Trading in such conditions is called “Margin Trading.”
There are two types of Margin Trading: Isolated and Cross-Margin. The former allows the user to select the amount of money in their wallet that should be used to hold their position after an order is placed. However, the latter provides that all of the money in the users’ wallet can be used to hold their position, and therefore should be treated with extreme caution.
https://preview.redd.it/eg4qk9qr3cc41.jpg?width=808&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3ca8cdf654330ce53e8138d774e72155acf0e7e
The BitMEX platform allows users to set their leverage level by using the leverage slider. A maximum leverage of 1:100 is available (on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash). This is quite a high level of leverage for cryptocurrencies, with the average offered by other exchanges rarely exceeding 1:20.

BitMEX Fees

For traditional futures trading, BitMEX has a straightforward fee schedule. As noted, in terms of leverage offered, BitMEX offers up to 100% leverage, with the amount off leverage varying from product to product.
However, it should be noted that trading at the highest leverages is sophisticated and is intended for professional investors that are familiar with speculative trading. The fees and leverage are as follows:
https://preview.redd.it/wvhiepht3cc41.jpg?width=730&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0617eb894c13d3870211a01d51af98561907cb99

https://preview.redd.it/qhi8izcu3cc41.jpg?width=730&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09da4efe1de4214b0b5b9c7501aba5320e846b4c
However, there are additional fees for hidden / iceberg orders. A hidden order pays the taker fee until the entire hidden quantity is completely executed. Then, the order will become normal, and the user will receive the maker rebate for the non-hidden amount.

Deposits and Withdrawals

BitMEX does not charge fees on deposits or withdrawals. However, when withdrawing Bitcoin, the minimum Network fee is based on blockchain load. The only costs therefore are those of the banks or the cryptocurrency networks.
As noted previously, BitMEX only accepts deposits in Bitcoin and therefore Bitcoin serves as collateral on trading contracts, regardless of whether or not the trade involves Bitcoin.
The minimum deposit is 0.001 BTC. There are no limits on withdrawals, but withdrawals can also be in Bitcoin only. To make a withdrawal, all that users need to do is insert the amount to withdraw and the wallet address to complete the transfer.
https://preview.redd.it/xj1kbuew3cc41.jpg?width=808&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68056f2247001c63e89c880cfbb75b2f3616e8fe
Deposits can be made 24/7 but withdrawals are processed by hand at a recurring time once per day. The hand processed withdrawals are intended to increase the security levels of users’ funds by providing extra time (and email notice) to cancel any fraudulent withdrawal requests, as well as bypassing the use of automated systems & hot wallets which may be more prone to compromise.

Supported Currencies

BitMEX operates as a crypto to crypto exchange and makes use of a Bitcoin-in/Bitcoin-out structure. Therefore, platform users are currently unable to use fiat currencies for any payments or transfers, however, a plus side of this is that there are no limits for trading and the exchange incorporates trading pairs linked to the US Dollar (XBT), Japanese Yen (XBJ), and Chinese Yuan (XBC).
BitMEX supports the following cryptocurrencies:
  • Bitcoin (XBT)
  • Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Ethereum Classic (ETC)
  • Litecoin (LTC)
  • Ripple Token (XRP)
  • Monero (XMR)
  • Dash (DASH)
  • Zcash (ZEC)
  • Cardano (ADA)
  • Tron (TRX)
  • EOS Token (EOS)
BitMEX also offers leverage options on the following coins:
  • 5x: Zcash (ZEC)
  • 20x : Ripple (XRP),Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Cardano (ADA), EOS Token (EOS), Tron (TRX)
  • 25x: Monero (XMR)
  • 33x: Litecoin (LTC)
  • 50x: Ethereum (ETH)
  • 100x: Bitcoin (XBT), Bitcoin / Yen (XBJ), Bitcoin / Yuan (XBC)

Trading Technologies International Partnership

HDR Global Trading, the company which owns BitMEX, has recently announced a partnership with Trading Technologies International, Inc. (TT), a leading international high-performance trading software provider.
The TT platform is designed specifically for professional traders, brokers, and market-access providers, and incorporates a wide variety of trading tools and analytical indicators that allow even the most advanced traders to customize the software to suit their unique trading styles. The TT platform also provides traders with global market access and trade execution through its privately managed infrastructure and the partnership will see BitMEX users gaining access to the trading tools on all BitMEX products, including the popular XBT/USD Perpetual Swap pairing.

The BitMEX Insurance Fund

The ability to trade on leverage is one of the exchange’s main selling points and offering leverage and providing the opportunity for traders to trade against each other may result in a situation where the winners do not receive all of their expected profits. As a result of the amounts of leverage involved, it’s possible that the losers may not have enough margin in their positions to pay the winners.
Traditional exchanges like the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) offset this problem by utilizing multiple layers of protection and cryptocurrency trading platforms offering leverage cannot currently match the levels of protection provided to winning traders.
In addition, cryptocurrency exchanges offering leveraged trades propose a capped downside and unlimited upside on a highly volatile asset with the caveat being that on occasion, there may not be enough funds in the system to pay out the winners.
To help solve this problem, BitMEX has developed an insurance fund system, and when a trader has an open leveraged position, their position is forcefully closed or liquidated when their maintenance margin is too low.
Here, a trader’s profit and loss does not reflect the actual price their position was closed on the market, and with BitMEX when a trader is liquidated, their equity associated with the position drops down to zero.
In the following example, the trader has taken a 100x long position. In the event that the mark price of Bitcoin falls to $3,980 (by 0.5%), then the position gets liquidated with the 100 Bitcoin position needing to be sold on the market.
This means that it does not matter what price this trade executes at, namely if it’s $3,995 or $3,000, as from the view of the liquidated trader, regardless of the price, they lose all the equity they had in their position, and lose the entire one Bitcoin.
https://preview.redd.it/wel3rka04cc41.png?width=669&format=png&auto=webp&s=3f93dac2d3b40aa842d281384113d2e26f25947e
Assuming there is a fully liquid market, the bid/ask spread should be tighter than the maintenance margin. Here, liquidations manifest as contributions to the insurance fund (e.g. if the maintenance margin is 50bps, but the market is 1bp wide), and the insurance fund should rise by close to the same amount as the maintenance margin when a position is liquidated. In this scenario, as long as healthy liquid markets persist, the insurance fund should continue its steady growth.
The following graphs further illustrate the example, and in the first chart, market conditions are healthy with a narrow bid/ask spread (just $2) at the time of liquidation. Here, the closing trade occurs at a higher price than the bankruptcy price (the price where the margin balance is zero) and the insurance fund benefits.
Illustrative example of an insurance contribution – Long 100x with 1 BTC collateral
https://preview.redd.it/is89ep924cc41.png?width=699&format=png&auto=webp&s=f0419c68fe88703e594c121b5b742c963c7e2229
(Note: The above illustration is based on opening a 100x long position at $4,000 per BTC and 1 Bitcoin of collateral. The illustration is an oversimplification and ignores factors such as fees and other adjustments.
The bid and offer prices represent the state of the order book at the time of liquidation. The closing trade price is $3,978, representing $1 of slippage compared to the $3,979 bid price at the time of liquidation.)
The second chart shows a wide bid/ask spread at the time of liquidation, here, the closing trade takes place at a lower price than the bankruptcy price, and the insurance fund is used to make sure that winning traders receive their expected profits.
This works to stabilize the potential for returns as there is no guarantee that healthy market conditions can continue, especially during periods of heightened price volatility. During these periods, it’s actually possible that the insurance fund can be used up than it is built up.
Illustrative example of an insurance depletion – Long 100x with 1 BTC collateral
https://preview.redd.it/vb4mj3n54cc41.png?width=707&format=png&auto=webp&s=0c63b7c99ae1c114d8e3b947fb490e9144dfe61b
(Notes: The above illustration is based on opening a 100x long position at $4,000 per BTC and 1 Bitcoin of collateral. The illustration is an oversimplification and ignores factors such as fees and other adjustments.
The bid and offer prices represent the state of the order book at the time of liquidation. The closing trade price is $3,800, representing $20 of slippage compared to the $3,820 bid price at the time of liquidation.)
The exchange declared in February 2019, that the BitMEX insurance fund retained close to 21,000 Bitcoin (around $70 million based on Bitcoin spot prices at the time).
This figure represents just 0.007% of BitMEX’s notional annual trading volume, which has been quoted as being approximately $1 trillion. This is higher than the insurance funds as a proportion of trading volume of the CME, and therefore, winning traders on BitMEX are exposed to much larger risks than CME traders as:
  • BitMEX does not have clearing members with large balance sheets and traders are directly exposed to each other.
  • BitMEX does not demand payments from traders with negative account balances.
  • The underlying instruments on BitMEX are more volatile than the more traditional instruments available on CME.
Therefore, with the insurance fund remaining capitalized, the system effectively with participants who get liquidated paying for liquidations, or a losers pay for losers mechanism.
This system may appear controversial as first, though some may argue that there is a degree of uniformity to it. It’s also worth noting that the exchange also makes use of Auto Deleveraging which means that on occasion, leveraged positions in profit can still be reduced during certain time periods if a liquidated order cannot be executed in the market.
More adventurous traders should note that while the insurance fund holds 21,000 Bitcoin, worth approximately 0.1% of the total Bitcoin supply, BitMEX still doesn’t offer the same level of guarantees to winning traders that are provided by more traditional leveraged trading platforms.
Given the inherent volatility of the cryptocurrency market, there remains some possibility that the fund gets drained down to zero despite its current size. This may result in more successful traders lacking confidence in the platform and choosing to limit their exposure in the event of BitMEX being unable to compensate winning traders.

How suitable is BitMEX for Beginners?

BitMEX generates high Bitcoin trading levels, and also attracts good levels of volume across other crypto-to-crypto transfers. This helps to maintain a buzz around the exchange, and BitMEX also employs relatively low trading fees, and is available round the world (except to US inhabitants).
This helps to attract the attention of people new to the process of trading on leverage and when getting started on the platform there are 5 main navigation Tabs to get used to:
  • **Trade:**The trading dashboard of BitMEX. This tab allows you to select your preferred trading instrument, and choose leverage, as well as place and cancel orders. You can also see your position information and view key information in the contract details.
  • **Account:**Here, all your account information is displayed including available Bitcoin margin balances, deposits and withdrawals, and trade history.
  • **Contracts:**This tab covers further instrument information including funding history, contract sizes; leverage offered expiry, underlying reference Price Index data, and other key features.
  • **References:**This resource centre allows you to learn about futures, perpetual contracts, position marking, and liquidation.
  • **API:**From here you can set up an API connection with BitMEX, and utilize the REST API and WebSocket API.
BitMEX also employs 24/7 customer support and the team can also be contacted on their Twitter and Reddit accounts.
In addition, BitMEX provides a variety of educational resources including an FAQ section, Futures guides, Perpetual Contracts guides, and further resources in the “References” account tab.
For users looking for more in depth analysis, the BitMEX blog produces high level descriptions of a number of subjects and has garnered a good reputation among the cryptocurrency community.
Most importantly, the exchange also maintains a testnet platform, built on top of testnet Bitcoin, which allows anyone to try out programs and strategies before moving on to the live exchange.
This is crucial as despite the wealth of resources available, BitMEX is not really suitable for beginners, and margin trading, futures contracts and swaps are best left to experienced, professional or institutional traders.
Margin trading and choosing to engage in leveraged activity are risky processes and even more advanced traders can describe the process as a high risk and high reward “game”. New entrants to the sector should spend a considerable amount of time learning about margin trading and testing out strategies before considering whether to open a live account.

Is BitMEX Safe?

BitMEX is widely considered to have strong levels of security. The platform uses multi-signature deposits and withdrawal schemes which can only be used by BitMEX partners. BitMEX also utilises Amazon Web Services to protect the servers with text messages and two-factor authentication, as well as hardware tokens.
BitMEX also has a system for risk checks, which requires that the sum of all account holdings on the website must be zero. If it’s not, all trading is immediately halted. As noted previously, withdrawals are all individually hand-checked by employees, and private keys are never stored in the cloud. Deposit addresses are externally verified to make sure that they contain matching keys. If they do not, there is an immediate system shutdown.

In addition, the BitMEX trading platform is written in kdb+, a database and toolset popular amongst major banks in high frequency trading applications. The BitMEX engine appears to be faster and more reliable than some of its competitors, such as Poloniex and Bittrex.
They have email notifications, and PGP encryption is used for all communication.
The exchange hasn’t been hacked in the past.

How Secure is the platform?

As previously mentioned, BitMEX is considered to be a safe exchange and incorporates a number of security protocols that are becoming standard among the sector’s leading exchanges. In addition to making use of Amazon Web Services’ cloud security, all the exchange’s systems can only be accessed after passing through multiple forms of authentication, and individual systems are only able to communicate with each other across approved and monitored channels.
Communication is also further secured as the exchange provides optional PGP encryption for all automated emails, and users can insert their PGP public key into the form inside their accounts.
Once set up, BitMEX will encrypt and sign all the automated emails sent by you or to your account by the [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) email address. Users can also initiate secure conversations with the support team by using the email address and public key on the Technical Contact, and the team have made their automated system’s PGP key available for verification in their Security Section.
The platform’s trading engine is written in kdb+, a database and toolset used by leading financial institutions in high-frequency trading applications, and the speed and reliability of the engine is also used to perform a full risk check after every order placement, trade, settlement, deposit, and withdrawal.
All accounts in the system must consistently sum to zero, and if this does not happen then trading on the platform is immediately halted for all users.
With regards to wallet security, BitMEX makes use of a multisignature deposit and withdrawal scheme, and all exchange addresses are multisignature by default with all storage being kept offline. Private keys are not stored on any cloud servers and deep cold storage is used for the majority of funds.
Furthermore, all deposit addresses sent by the BitMEX system are verified by an external service that works to ensure that they contain the keys controlled by the founders, and in the event that the public keys differ, the system is immediately shut down and trading halted. The exchange’s security practices also see that every withdrawal is audited by hand by a minimum of two employees before being sent out.

BitMEX Customer Support

The trading platform has a 24/7 support on multiple channels, including email, ticket systems and social media. The typical response time from the customer support team is about one hour, and feedback on the customer support generally suggest that the customer service responses are helpful and are not restricted to automated responses.

The BitMEX also offers a knowledge base and FAQs which, although they are not necessarily always helpful, may assist and direct users towards the necessary channels to obtain assistance.
BitMEX also offers trading guides which can be accessed here

Conclusion

There would appear to be few complaints online about BitMEX, with most issues relating to technical matters or about the complexities of using the website. Older complaints also appeared to include issues relating to low liquidity, but this no longer appears to be an issue.
BitMEX is clearly not a platform that is not intended for the amateur investor. The interface is complex and therefore it can be very difficult for users to get used to the platform and to even navigate the website.
However, the platform does provide a wide range of tools and once users have experience of the platform they will appreciate the wide range of information that the platform provides.
