Deloitte: Blockchain Reduces Risk, Improves Innovation, and Creates Value for Businesses

Deloitte: Blockchain Reduces Risk, Improves Innovation, and Creates Value for Businesses
Global accounting powerhouse Deloitte has released a report showing the growth and dynamism of blockchain technology. The findings follow a survey of leading executives in a dozen countries conducted in February 2019.
Blockchain technology has had an exciting evolution. Currently, many companies are looking for ways to implement blockchain transparency and immutability in their operations. Accordingly, the blockchain is moving from the fringe entity it was previously to now being front and center in corporate strategies.
Cryptocurrency is generally a massive success story. However, leading coins like Bitcoin have had their fair share of highs and lows in recent years. This kind of inconsistency tends to put off certain types of investors who are sticklers for stability.
Slowly but surely, blockchain technology is distinguishing itself for its utility value. The fates of crypto and blockchain technology no longer appear to be as intertwined as it seemed at their inceptions. Even governments like China, which have stringent regulations on cryptocurrency trading, are now actively researching distributed ledger technology (DLTs).

Blockchain Disruption is Growing

The uncertainty about the viability of blockchain technology is decreasing. Leading executives acknowledge that the technology is real and that blockchain solutions can be part and parcel of their future business models.
As per the Deloitte report, 53% of executives see blockchain technology as a critical part of their business in 2019. This figure marks a 10-point increase from last year. Even more important is the fact that there is a 40% rise in executives willing to invest $5 million or more in new blockchain initiatives over the next twelve months.
Over time, blockchain technology has displayed impressive diversification in its use-cases. The practicality of its solutions, especially in supply chain and data management, continues to draw accolades. This level of depth and maturity has won over industry leaders from various sectors.
Still, the level of actual deployment does not tally with the enthusiasm around blockchain. With every innovation, potential adopters display a reasonable level of skepticism about long-term viability. Among the executives, a significant 43% think that blockchain technology is overhyped. Therefore, it is not uncommon to find some of these executives full of praise for blockchain but still hedging until they see more development.

The Big Picture

Various industries have seen blockchain utility causing an immediate impact. Fintech is a leading success story from the blockchain age. Combining artificial intelligence and the transparency of blockchain has resulted in Fintech startups that can become the next Silicon Valley unicorn.
The bottom line is that an overwhelming majority of respondents view blockchain as broadly scalable and believe that it will eventually achieve widespread adoption. A compelling business case for blockchain is a prerequisite for such sentiment. This sentiment is proof of blockchain’s maturity and resilience over the years.
Existing concerns range from replacing or adapting current legacy systems to regulatory hurdles, and even uncertainty about return on investment. Going forward, it will be fascinating to see what the skeptical executives in particular think of the innovation.
According to the Deloitte survey, most respondents see potential upsides in business model/value chain innovation as some key blockchain advantages. Blockchain technology continues to distinguish itself. With the introduction of smart contracts in 2015, blockchain is now a treasure trove for developers.
Decentralized applications (dApps) are a dynamic tool to create trustless transactions. Going into 2020, LinkedIn’s 2020 Emerging Jobs Report finds that the job of a blockchain developer ranks high on the list of top emerging jobs alongside others like A.I. specialists and robotic process automation consultants.
As such, blockchain is set to become one of the hottest fields next year. Whether as a developer, investor, or casual participant, a lot is going on for everyone.

Government Adoption of DLTs

Much of the skepticism around cryptocurrency stemmed from the fact that governments across the world sought to either ignore or regulate this field in a pessimistic manner. The fact that China is now warming up to DLTs could be a sign of the changing times.
Government adoption of blockchain can be another watershed moment for this innovation. With possible applications in areas such as healthcare and supply chain management, this technology could genuinely explode.
India is yet another country with a strict policy on crypto trading. The India Times reported on Nov. 27, 2019 about an exciting development relating to DLTs: India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology intends to embrace blockchain technology, adopting a national strategy.

What Blockchain Adoption Might Mean for Crypto

India and China’s evolving attitudes are a testament to the resilience of the blockchain. India has banned crypto trading for sovereignty reasons, volatility, and its inability to serve the functions of regular currencies.
The move to embrace blockchain technology might have the domino effect of a change in attitudes towards cryptocurrency. Institutional investors, in particular, are keen to be on the safe side of regulators.
Western governments led by the USA have to take a more assertive role in the development of this sector. If the likes of China take a leading role in moving blockchain forward, it is only a matter of time before the rest of the developed world follows suit.
Countries that have a blockchain-friendly environment include Estonia, Malta, Switzerland, the USA, China, and the U.K. This list is from a Consensys research report published in November 2019. These countries have different levels of blockchain implementation in the government and public sectors. Estonia was the first country to implement blockchain at a national level, with blockchain testing going as far back as 2008. Malta is also an important blockchain hub, given its suitable regulatory regime.

The Importance of the US Market and Blockchain Adoption

Because of its economic size, the USA is a very consequential market for blockchain technology. Government adoption is already impressive. For example, the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) invested $49 million to build A.I. and blockchain solutions. These solutions will cut operational backlog and costs. States like Arizona, Illinois, and Delaware also have different measures to incorporate blockchain technology into their activities.
Government adoption can be a lifeline for blockchain technology. However, like every other aspect of commerce, private enterprise will be the key to a global blockchain presence. The rise of giant corporations like Amazon, Apple, and Samsung shows the potential of such an enterprise.
With the appropriate regulatory environment in place, such corporations can make a difference through blockchain. Blockchain’s greatest asset is its transparency, and this trait can come in handy for companies with supply-chain management needs.
The reduction of personnel costs is something any company seeking to increase profitability will always look at. Blockchain technology is an opportunity to cut these costs while improving efficiency.

The Future of Blockchain

For any innovation, the challenge is always whether it can live up to the hype. The dot com bubble is everlasting proof that many tech wonder stories don’t live up to their marketing. This phenomenon is the one issue blockchain has had to answer throughout its growth, and will continue to address in the future.
So far, so good. After all, blockchain has got to where it is despite the lack of mainstream marketing other innovations have enjoyed. The fact that it grew while seeming like it was joined at the hip to Bitcoin meant that it had to have a long acceptance curve. Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency — an idea which many had a tough time understanding.
As 2020 approaches, blockchain is taking an increasingly prominent position in global commerce. It is one of the most exciting fields for all stakeholders.
Blockchain represents a new way of doing business, management, and even tracking value, and startups are at the forefront of this new era. Therefore, it is not overly generous to state that blockchain technology has a bright future. With more industry leaders giving it the green light, it is now time to seriously look for opportunities in this sector. In the future, it will be fascinating to see the heights to which this industry scales.

Top 10 Ways to Earn Bitcoin in 2020

Top 10 Ways to Earn Bitcoin in 2020

Back in 2018, the most popular way to earn bitcoin seemed to be through Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). Over $6 billion was raised in Q1 2018 for crypto projects — many with just a white paper and a website. Business was good for founders and investors until the end of 2018 when scammers were the only ones laughing. Most investors lost money, and capital investments into ICO dropped 97%. Companies like TruStory even launched whose sole mission was to stop ICO scams from happening. By Q1 2019, less than $900 million was raised through ICOs —with regulation being the coup de gras.

So where has all the momentum shifted? The second wave of crypto projects will undoubtedly reward profits over potential. This article examines the top ways you can earn bitcoin in 2020 — from faucets and bitcoin mining to crypto savings accounts. The biggest winners of 2020 will likely fall into one of the following 10 categories. The strategy that is right for you will depend on your skills, network, access to capital, location, risk tolerance and investment timeline.

#1 - Holding
https://preview.redd.it/2rvi2izqxby31.png?width=475&format=png&auto=webp&s=5edf45a5cf880916a1cbf3dd3c889b05e27a52be
Arguably the best way to make money on Bitcoin is to buy it and hold it for many years. Smart investors rely on a strategy called Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) to reduce market volatility. This works by investing a fixed amount on a regular schedule, ie $100 once a week for 10 weeks, which helps offset the crypto market volatility. The hard part is being patient with the investment and resisting the urge to daytrade or sell too quickly.

#2 - Lending
https://preview.redd.it/8ejpg84wxby31.png?width=472&format=png&auto=webp&s=984fbb7bb13e6064a8ae1d130d77f3f9fd9c716b
A number of fintech companies like BlockFi and BitBond now offer the ability to earn interest on your crypto holdings. Interest rates range start around 8% and can go as high as 20% for trusted lenders. The interest clients earn typically compounds monthly, although these returns mimic that of the S&P 500 so this is considered a low risk/reward option.

#3 - Day Trading
https://preview.redd.it/i1mqwm80yby31.png?width=471&format=png&auto=webp&s=b9185daf5e28b8160f8b36848b26e34e1b7b8417
A common way to earn Bitcoin trading is through trading cryptocurrencies on exchanges using 1X to as high as 100X leverage. Traders can also bet on the index of any crypto on sites like eToro or Robinhood. Daytraders will trade based on charts and trends, and try to grow their portfolio.
https://preview.redd.it/hxpg8nq7yby31.png?width=469&format=png&auto=webp&s=8441aee2cd8b258ec580faee5820510401372cc9
Another much safer form of arbitrage is dropshipping. You can source products on Amazon or from sites like Oberlo who will help you find the right products to buy. You can build an e-commerce store using Shopify or just sell on eBay. If you have a store and supply chain already, it's easy to start accepting Bitcoin using a payment gateway like CoinPayments or BitPay.
Other peer-to-peer exchanges like Paxful, Purse and Redeeem allow you to trade gift cards and other digital and physical goods for bitcoin.

#4 - Gambling
https://preview.redd.it/fghrvc3cyby31.png?width=473&format=png&auto=webp&s=7ebcc8d3a22c7e07ba7fc1c455a8b22b1f2b88b5
Gambling with Bitcoin is highly addictive, risky, largely unregulated, and offers the biggest and fastest financial volatility. Some popular crypto gambling sites include CloudBet, BetOnline, FortuneJack, Bovada, BetUS and hundreds of others. For more rankings, click here.

#5 - Mining
https://preview.redd.it/h9q7uphpyby31.png?width=471&format=png&auto=webp&s=64c18aeb8fc4bee85f9e1b8275385223f017c825
Despite the fact that over 80% of Bitcoin has already been mined, bitcoin mining is still a $4 billion annual industry. Since mining was intentionally developed to require advanced hardware, it's an expensive process that requires large mining facilities to be profitable. For this reason, most large-scale mining operations are located in China where electricity is cheap.
To be successful, individual miners are forced to join collective mining pools like MinerGate or simply mine as a fun hobby with Coinmine or Homeyminer and not worry about the ROI. To learn more, click here.

#6 - Faucets
https://preview.redd.it/uejcd0ztyby31.png?width=478&format=png&auto=webp&s=de76e9b769582b83af46e78d97616c19945d0474
A faucet is just a website that gives free coins to every visitor for staying on the site or engaging with content. Some examples are Cointiply, FreeBitcoin, SatoshiQuiz and others. Keep in mind, a satoshi represents roughly 0.00000001 bitcoin, so 100 satoshi is about 1 penny. It would take 100 correct trivia answers on SatoshiQuiz to make $1 USD. It's far more profitable to own a Bitcoin faucet and make money on advertisements.

#7 - Services
https://preview.redd.it/2mizr67e0cy31.png?width=483&format=png&auto=webp&s=c698ba3fd2ee210837155a240a65c3002ae049da
There are dozens of job boards online where you can earn bitcoin for a variety of independent contractor services. Many clients on Upwork, Freelancer and other non-crypto platforms will gladly 15% discounts or more if they can pay their freelancers in bitcoin and avoid the costs of the marketplace. Other more dedicated sites are listed below.
Jobs4Bitcoin — Reddit job board for bitcoin tasks
AngelList — Job board for crypto companies and projects
Earn.com — Earn bitcoin while learning about crypto
CryptoGrind — Escrow for bitcoin freelancers
CryptoJobs — Job board for bitcoin freelancers
Coinality — Job board for crypto freelancers
Bitfortip — Earn bitcoin for helping people Indeed — Job board for crypto companies BitWage — HR services for paying in crypto XBTFreelancer — Freelancers get paid in bitcoin

#8 - Exchanges
https://preview.redd.it/v5a0u4iy0cy31.png?width=464&format=png&auto=webp&s=543a50490c066b904fe351cec925d8adcf1a6c22
The simplest and lowest-cost exchange is a Bitcoin ATM. As of January 2019, there were 4,213 Bitcoin or cryptocurrency ATMs worldwide. With many countries like Venezuela, Argentina and Nigeria experiencing hyperinflation, the world's 2.3 billion unbanked people will continue to demand bitcoin and stablecoins as hedges against inflation. The estimated startup costs for a Bitcoin ATM is about $25,000 per location, according to CoinATMRadar.
https://preview.redd.it/xoj4c5c31cy31.png?width=468&format=png&auto=webp&s=bed32024272d9c6e6e8fcdc0e7c53254e91c02e6
Building a crypto exchange or peer-to-peer trading platform will be a more expensive way to earn bitcoin as an exchange. This requires building a website, hosting wallets on the blockchain, building security protocols, creating KYC/AML policies, accepting crypto payments, building two sides of a marketplace, and a little marketing, branding and legal work. Some examples of successful P2P trading platforms are Paxful, Purse and Redeeem.
The fiat to crypto exchanges like Gemini, Coinbase and Kraken usually require venture funding, large engineering teams and banking partnerships for proper custody of the funds. Fiat exchanges also have to register as a Money Services Business (MSB). For a full list of fiat exchanges, click here.

#9 - Affiliate Rewards
https://preview.redd.it/peewibjm1cy31.png?width=475&format=png&auto=webp&s=18f067006e2edfdbae198e14d71ede66bb805dae
Affiliate programs in crypto are endless, and they can come in many different shapes and sizes. Products like Lolli and Pei will reward you with bitcoin cashback everywhere you shop. Exchanges like Changelly will give you a percentage of their fee revenue for referring clients. Wallets like Abra will give you $25 for each signup. The optimal strategy is picking a familiar product that you know and love. For a list of affiliate programs, click here.

#10 - Content
https://preview.redd.it/yh7q5vwv1cy31.png?width=469&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed03d857d94d8c11de63b5cbc21c5e311836fcaa
Bitcoin is King. Content is King. So Bitcoin Content must be God. The ability to research, write and publish high-quality content on Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrencies will be a highly coveted asset in 2020. It's free to start a Medium blog, video blog or podcast and share your ideas to passionate audiences on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit or Quora. Try to build an audience first then turn on AdSense or activate other partnerships to start collecting passive revenue for your content.

Executive Summary

This article covers some of the many ways to buy discount gift cards. We focus a lot of attention on Amazon gift cards since they are the largest retailer in the world and has the 2nd most gift cards in circulation. We have either purchased or researched in depth most of the sites on this list to come up with some conclusions about the fastest, safest and cheapest places to buy discount gift cards. Please remember, there is no one best place to find gift cards, the goal is to give you options.
The lowest-risk gift cards with the lowest discounts are directly from that brand and at grocery stores and other retail locations (CVS, Safeway, Walgreens, etc). You will also find these 0% offers from 3rd party e-code generators like eGifter and BitPay. You can usually buy instantly and they are guaranteed forever.
Slightly higher risk are the old-school secondhand gift card exchanges like CardCash, CardPool, Raise and others. They offer very small savings up to 5% off the top brands. You can pay with a credit card and they guarantee the card for up to a full year so you can gift them as gifts much easily.
The highest discounted gift cards are on peer-to-peer bitcoin marketplaces with users from many different countries, like Paxful and LocalBitcoins. This also comes with the most risk and the highest amount of work. These platforms have lower regulation and majority of the trades are conducted in non-USD currency.
Finally, there is an emerging category of crypto gift card exchanges that also use bitcoin to offer the same discounts as peer-to-peer marketplaces, but they have more advanced protections in place for buyers and sellers. Sites like Redeeem and Purse.io fall into this category because they can offer larger discounts on gift cards and other products but they use technology to cut out the negotiating. Cards are guaranteed for minutes, hours or days here, so this isn’t the best for gifting.
Your savings (and profit margins) will depend largely on your risk tolerance, length of time you are willing to get paid, country where you are located, capital available, ability to buy alternative forms of currency (like bitcoin), the ability/willingness to ship physical products, overall time commitment, and many other factors.

1. Buy gift cards on marketplaces

Redeeem. Save 15% or more on bulk Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy gift cards with auction-style pricing buying with bitcoin. They have great support and great reviews.
CardPool. Save 3-5% on hundreds of brands, including Best Buy, Target, iTunes and Lowe’s. They send the card directly to your email inbox or via USPS in 3-7 days.
CardCash. Gift card marketplace that buys unwanted gift cards for less than their value and resells them at a discount to savvy shoppers across the country. Save 3-5% on hundreds of brands, very similar to CardPool.
Gift Card Granny. This is a nice resource because they link to the sites that have the best deals, unfortunately they don’t index many of the bulk discount sites.
Raise. One of the biggest in terms of volume. Discounted gift cards to hundreds of national brands such as Target, Southwest, Uber, Home Depot, etc. However, discounts are minimal here, ranging from 0-3%.
CardCookie. A great site with great potential—currently offering 5-10% discounts but not very high volume yet. Keep them bookmarked.

2. Buy gift cards with bitcoin

Redeeem. Redeeem is a great option for buying Amazon gift cards at 20% discount or higher using bitcoin. Unlike Paxful or LocalBitcoins, they manually validate and guarantee every gift card sold on the platform and have an easier buying experience. But you will have to trade during market hours (they are only open 8 hours a day).
BitPay. Raised over $72 million from investors, they’re the largest bitcoin payment processor. Download the app to buy Amazon e-codes fast at 0% discount.
Paxful. With 300+ currencies to trade, Paxful’s peer-to-peer platform with millions of users in Africa offers likely the best discounts for gift cards, but there are a lot of scammers (and yelling) so be careful. You may find yourself with a lot of stolen/invalid cards and trade disputes with money at risk.
LocalBitcoins. LocalBitcoins lets you buy and sell bitcoin in over 248 countries. Like Paxful, this comes with high risk and high reward. Every trade starts with a listing, similar to Craigslist, and the platform is strictly peer-to-peer.
Purse. Save 10% or more on Amazon when you pay with bitcoin, or dropship products (including gift cards) to people to earn bitcoin.
CardBazaar. An online secondhand gift card marketplace where you can buy and sell unwanted gift cards for cash or bitcoin.
Bidali. A bitcoin payment processor that competes with BitPay and offers full-priced e-codes from Amazon and other retailers.
eGifter. One of the best way to buy eGift cards quickly for friends, family and yourself without hassle. Choose from hundreds of top national brands. You can personalize your gift with an animated greeting card, photo or video greeting.

3. Fill out online surveys for gift cards

Survey Junkie. offers a massive inventory of paid surveys. Each survey is assigned a point value (most between 100-200 points) and estimated completion time. Once you accrue 1,000 points (around $10) you can cash out with a gift card.
Beer Money on Reddit. This a Reddit group dedicated to making some cash on the side. Don’t know much about it.
PointClub Surveys. You can earn points for completing paid online surveys. When you have enough points, you can redeem them for cash or the gift card of your choice. Gift cards can either be digital or real cards sent to you. It's that easy!
OpinionOutpost. You can earn cash and rewards for the time you spend taking online surveys with points you can redeem for cash or gift vouchers to popular brands.

4. Buy directly with people online

Reddit. Reddit is used by a ton of gift card traders, but you have to be familiar with the platform and have some karma on there before using it seriously. Otherwise, your listings will just get filtered out by their algorithms. If you go in there moving quickly without reading their rules carefully you will likely get banned.

5. Buy directly from people offline

Craigslist. As you probably know, you can get anything on Craigslist. But like Paxful and LocalBitcoins, it requires a lot of negotiating and there are scammers galore. The only deals worth doing are small volume with trusted local partners.
Facebook Marketplace. Although this wouldn’t be my first choice due to the randomness, there are a lot of gift cards on Facebook Marketplace—a growing platform.
eBay. Older than time itself, eBay earns millions of dollars a day in gift card volume. They are fairly warm to buying and selling physical gift cards but they are cracking down on e-codes. The downsides here are shipping costs and eBay/PayPal fees which add up to over 10%. There are also a lot of international buyers on eBay taking advantage of currency exchanges, which inflates prices of gift cards above their face value. It’s an expensive place to find gift cards—but always there.

6. Arbitrage gift cards on Amazon

Amazon is unique in a lot of ways. One way in particular is that they let you buy other brands of physical gift cards with your Amazon credit balance—such as Nordstrom, Southwest, Nike, Starbucks, Google Play, iTunes, Best Buy, Lowe’s, Sephora, Hotels.com and dozens more.
This opens the door for people to buy gift cards on Amazon and then sell them to CardCash, CardPool, Raise, Paxful, Reddit, LocalBitcoins, Redeeem, etc. The risk, believe it or not, is that Amazon loves shutting down people’s accounts with gift card balances frozen inside. So don't let your balances get too high and try to mimic normal behavior that doesn’t make you look like a large dropshipping business (e.g. ship to yourself, buy other products too, have a real phone number and billing address on file, etc). There are also hard quantity limits on how many gift cards you can buy for each SKU on Amazon.
Your profit margin will depend on how you get Amazon credits, your ability to keep your Amazon accounts in good health, and the rate at which you sell your cards to gift card marketplaces (some let you choose your own rate, others have fixed rates), and the speed and method you want to get paid (check, ACH, bitcoin, PayPal, etc).

7. Swap other gift cards for Amazon

CardCash Amazon Exchange. This is a cool resource that CardCash built alongside Amazon to allow customers to swap out other national brands for Amazon e-codes for a small fee. The rates are comparable to what they have on the main CardCash website and the e-codes are delivered within 24 hours. It’s a cool way to jump from one brand to another if you want Amazon gift cards in particular and have another.

8. Buy gift cards from retail stores

Retail Stores. There are hundreds of physical retail store locations where you can buy physical gift cards in person (the link points to Amazon retail locations). You pay full retail price but it’s fast, safe and reliable—and you can earn 3-5% cash back with certain credit cards like Amazon Prime card.

9. Earn gift cards for online work

Mechanical Turks. Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a crowdsourcing marketplace that makes it easier for individuals and businesses to outsource their processes and jobs. This will require a lot of work, but you can get paid in Amazon gift cards.
Swagbucks. You can redeem a Amazon Gift Cards by using the Swagbucks you earn through playing, searching, discovering, answering, watching or shopping on websites that are trying to sell you things. Not very profitable but can be fun.

10. Daily deals websites

Groupon. Although not as popular as when it first launched in 2009, Groupon is still used by millions of people to get discounts on stores, experiences and even gift cards like Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy. There is also a gift certificate category that has similar offers (sorry, we couldn’t find anything similar on Living Social).
Amazon Daily Deals. Amazon has daily deals on many categories of products as high as 20% discount. On some occasions they will slash prices on gift cards. Amazon Treasure Truck. Amazon has a Treasure Truck that they drive around many of their Whole Foods locations they use to promote Amazon Video shows and offer 10% discount deals on food, clothing and tech.
Gift Cards.me. Simple app, good reviews, worth a try. The discounts aren’t very spectacular, but they claim to have fast gift card delivery.
Nimble Commerce. Not sure how long they’ll be around, but worth a shot.

Bonus Knowledge

On the back of your gift cards, check all the stores where that brand is accepted. For example, gift cards for Gap also work at Old Navy, Banana Republic, Athleta and Piper Lime. Walmart gift cards work at Sam’s Club, Amazon gift cards work at Whole Foods, and Albertsons gift cards work at Safeway, Vons and a dozen other grocery store chains in the same family. Make sure you know these sister-company store policies before you buy a brand.
One limitation you may find with many stores like Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy is that they have per-product purchase limits. Obviously you can create new accounts or ask friends and family to buy products for you, but some products have gift cards under many different SKU numbers—like a Christmas and Birthday version. There are also limits set for each of these individual items, not the gift card category as a whole.
Finally, based on the U.S. government regulations, the maximum amount of gift cards that can be purchased in a 24 hour period by a single person $10,000. So please keep this in mind when you are out there shopping.
Good luck, be honest, and happy trading!

https://preview.redd.it/34hzb5b43f241.jpg?width=978&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37284181826cbab491de3ad68aee4d5142f34445

We are averaging 2,000 new subs daily.

We just celebrated the 350,000 mark 5 days ago and today we are over 360,000. Nice to see this sub and the Bitcoin community in general growing this big and this fast.
If you are one of those many just coming in, welcome! I'm sure you'll find this place very interesting, fun and informative. We are here to help you to better understand what Bitcoin is and and how it works, and for ourselves to keep learning. This is my welcome post for newbies:
When you come asking when is a good time to buy, the answer is: Buy now, always Hodl in FUD times (Bitcoin has "died" many times, but Moneybadger don't care, buy the dips and never panic-sell, stuff like: "China ban Bitcoin...again!" will keep happening again and again.
Here's Bitcoin's response to Jamie Dimon. Stick to the real Bitcoin through all the 'forks' and 'splits' that accomplish nothing but new mediocre, unsafe and centralized altcoins, strengthen/immunize Bitcoin and give you free altcoins to buy more Bitcoin.
All Central Powers look silly trying to control or ban it. Learn from history and listen to this absolute Boss. There will never be enough Bitcoin for every existing millionaire to own just ONE SINGLE BITCOIN, Total number of millionaires (in USD value) worldwide is around 33 million. Get one while you still can.
Also relax, you are actually an early adopter if you start investing today, mentally prepare yourself for healthy and expected market volatility/dips/corrections/"crashes" (check out this amazing 'Corrections Trends Perspective') and remember all this regarding Bitcoin investment:
Never try to time the market. Dollar cost average by buying what you can afford to lose every week.
It is always a good time to buy Bitcoin if you are hodling long term and not just for day trading, so this is a great strategy. Remember that Bitcoin has practically been up most of the time, and the road to the moon is paved with minor corrections (Bitcoin is never really "down" when you zoom-out).
Everybody parroting: "The bitcoin bubble is about to pop" since 2009, don't know that bitcoin is a decentralized system with mathematically fixed, deflatioary and limited supply currency and its growth is exponential.
So is not farfetched to say that it will be at 100,000 by 2020, since it came from less than $1 to $5,000 in less than 10 years, and it hasn't even hit the bottom part of the exponential 'S-Curve' of adoption. Check out this great 2017 MIT study: "The Cryptocurrency Market Is Growing Exponentially". Patience pays, don't listen to the "Expert Analysts on MSM".
Bitcoin is a Moneybadger that get's stronger and immunized with every new attack and this broad picture of its price since infancy (1 year candles on a logarithmic scale) shows Bitcoin growth is not in a "bubble" right now. Learn the difference between Inflation (dollar) and Deflation (Bitcoin) and just take a look at the fiat >20 trillion (and growing fast) debt clock to get a visual shock of unlimited fiat supply (vs limited Bitcoin/Gold supply).
Bitcoin has outperformed every other currency, commodity, stock and asset since its inception in 2009: "2017: Bitcoin Beats Stocks, Bonds, And Gold, Again”. Bitcoin, the Moneybadger, is the first unseizable store of value in human history, unlike gold, equities, or fiat, it can't be confiscated if stored correctly. How banks think blockchain will disrupt their industry.
Also, remember its fixed, limited supply of 21 million coins ever, there are just ~4.5 million (~20%) bitcoins left to be mined till 2140 and the production will keep decreasing ("halving") every 4 years till then. So, remember this and don't wait for the Bitcoin "bubble" to burst or for the price to drop significantly again, because you could be waiting forever:
“The best time to buy bitcoin was a few years ago, the second best time is always now”.
Don't be -- this guy

Bitcoin is a worldwide-distributed decentralized peer-to-peer censorship-resistant trustless and permissionless deflationary system/currency (see Blockchain technology) backed by mathematics, open source code, cryptography and the most powerful and secure decentralized computational network on the planet, orders of magnitude more powerful than google and government combined. There is a limit of 21 million bitcoins (divisible in smaller units). "Backed by Government" money is not backed by anything and is infinitely printed at will by Central Banks. Bitcoin is limited and decentralized.

Quora moderated(deleted) as spam my answer for having a Reddit backlink in it

About a year(!) ago I answered a question on Quora regarding how someone can get free bitcoins. In short I wrote that there is nothing as free bitcoins and I explained why is that.
At the end of my post, I added to links so the user can learn more about Bitcoin linking to Quora's Bitcoin Trading topic and Reddit's Cryptomarket sub. My answer within a year received 4K views which aren't that bad for a guy like me who is not looking after to promote himself rather than help people like I was helped in the past.

A few days ago Quora's moderation team send me an email saying that

Hello,
Some of your recent content (Makis77's answer to How can I get free bitcoins?) appears to violate Quora's policy on Spam:
On Quora, spam is defined as one or more questions, answers or posts whose purpose appears to be to direct traffic to external commercial sites while providing little to no value back to the Quora Community.

This was my Quora post:
There is one answer to your question: You cannot get free bitcoins!
Even if you setup a strip show and get paid by bitcoins you will still have spent some time(and fame) to receive a fraction of one bitcoin.
I suggest to educate yourself in investing in cryptocurrencies(except from BTC there are some altcoins with less competition and are more flexible to newbies), setup a blog and write about it. Once you feel comfortable enough you can reach to your colleagues, family and friends and ask them to invest some amount of money(#fiat) with you so you can buy BTC.
Then if you are wise and patient enough you will start multiplying the investment, pay back with interest your initial investors and start making your own BTC.
Bitcoin Trading and Reddit CryptoMarkets Room are great sources to start learning more about #investing in #BTC and #cryptocurrencies.

Even though I don't have the time to deal with this kind of garbage I decided to appeal the moderation so I can be sure about Quora hating Reddit. So I appealed. My appeal got rejected too.
For me, it's more than certain that Quora or their moderators hate seeing Reddit backlinks inside any question or answer. Next step would be to consider deleting all of my answers at Quora and delete my profile since I hate their approach both on their users and other antagonizing services..

The Great NiceHash Profit Explanation - for Sellers (the guys with the GPUs & CPUs)

Let's make a couple of things crystal clear about what you are not doing here:
But hey, I'm running MINING software!
What the hell am I doing then?!?
Who makes Profit, and how?
How is it possible everyone is making a profit?
Why do profits skyrocket, and will it last (and will this happen again)?
But my profits are decreasing all the time >:[
But why?!? I’m supposed to make lotsa money out of this!!!
But WHY!!!
  1. Interest hype -> Influx of Fiat money -> Coins quotes skyrocket -> Influx of miners -> Difficulty skyrockets -> Most of the price uptrend is choked within weeks, since it’s now harder to mine new blocks.
  2. Interest hype drains out -> Fiat money influx declines -> Coins quotes halt or even fall -> Miners still hold on to their dream -> Difficulty stays up high, even rises -> Earnings decrease, maybe even sharply, as it's still harder to mine new blocks, that may be even paid less.
So, how to judge what’s going on with my profits?
Simple breakdown of the relationship of BTC payouts by NiceHash, BTC/ALT Coins rates, and Fiat value:
BTC quote | ALTs quotes | BTC payout | Fiat value ----------------------------------------------------- UP | UP | stable*) | UP stable | UP | UP | UP UP | stable | DOWN | stable*) stable | stable | stable | stable DOWN | stable | UP | stable*) stable | DOWN | DOWN | DOWN DOWN | DOWN | stable*) | DOWN
Some rather obvious remarks:

I manage crypto funds between $1K-$10K and lost 6% last month

A couple months ago I shared my service in several crypto subreddits. Redditors are extremely skeptical about crypto services and for good reason because we are better informed than the general public!
Some of you thought I was a scammer. So let's share a new update on how I'm doing. I have to admit, when I shared my reddit post I didn't have much personal information about myself as I was not sure if I'd wanted to be public with my information yet. I couldn't use Ryan Gosling because he already works in another crypto company unfortunately https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/ryan-gosling-cryptocurrency-scam-miroskii-kevin-belanger-stock-image-fake-profile-bitcoin-a8240386.html.
Since a few weeks I decided to link my personal information and received much better conversion and feedback. And how better to disarm me being a scammer by announcing I actually lost money last month. I'll come back to discuss the performance more in depth in this post. First a bit of what went on last couple weeks.
I started writing on Quora about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as most sites are blocking crypto ads. And I'm now proud to announce I'm a top 10 writer on Quora for Bitcoin, virtual currencies and cryptocurrencies.
So from within 2 two weeks I went from 1 customer to 8, 3 waiting to be connected, over 50 verified signups, and many warm leads in the pipeline. From managing $10K to almost $50K now. I manage micro funds, between $1K and $10K so $50K is a big deal in this context.
I've always followed crypto on reddit and I feel there will be many more here interested in the service if they knew about it.

So let's talk about performance.
I lost around 6% last month and is the second consecutive month with losses. The reason is that the automated strategy I developed is based on lagging indicators, or trend following. Since the market is so flat, it is the most challenging period now. Causing micro losses and more trades than we usually do. They are within spec from backtest data dating from 2014 though. I took some action by using a multi-strategy approach that switches between trending and ranging markets, but might opt for another solution if November keeps being flat.
However I expect some more volume and volatility with the upcoming Bakkt launch so since it's within spec I'm not taking measures yet. The strategy is a long term strategy so 1-3 months is nothing.
I want to be transparent with my numbers and even though it's not a lot fun updating the number on my home page when it's going down, it's also an essential part of trading. Every trader seems to be able to make money, leaving out their losses conveniently. I don't, no sugarcoat, no bull shit. Real buy and sell prices and I will also begin to share the average actual slippage between advised prices and actual filled prices from the trading servers.
So there's that. If you have concerns, or questions just leave them in the comments.
And if you are interested in my services, head out to coinbakers.com. I work on a no profit no pay basis. You can find my performance and backtest results here https://coinbakers.com/results
Since I always gained from the reddit community I'm want to give redditors a 3% discount on my commission rate. If you'd like to make use of this offer just pm with your registered email address. Looking forward working with you!
Be safe and always do your own research.
Jason Wen Founder coinbakers.com

P.S. I'm linking to some of my Quora articles, some of you might find them interesting

As the crypto currency price keeps going down this year, why do some people still invest in it?

If you are new here, and wondering if it's ok to buy when the price is "high", you may enjoy this fun and informative introduction to Bitcoin.

Buy now, always Hodl in FUD times (Bitcoin has "died" many times, but Moneybadger don't care, buy the dips and never panic-sell, stuff like: "China ban Bitcoin...again!" will keep happening again and again. Here's Bitcoin's response to Jamie Dimon. All Central Powers look silly trying to control or ban it. Learn from history.
So, remember this and don't wait for the price to drop significantly again, because you could be waiting forever:

'''
A couple months ago I shared my service in several crypto subreddits. Redditors are extremely skeptical about crypto services and for good reason because we are better informed than the general public!
Some of you thought I was a scammer. So let's share a new update on how I'm doing. I have to admit, when I shared my reddit post I didn't have much personal information about myself as I was not sure if I'd wanted to be public with my information yet. I couldn't use Ryan Gosling because he already works in another crypto company unfortunately [[link]11 .
And if you are interested in my services, head out to [coinbakers.com]5 . I work on a no profit no pay basis. You can find my performance and backtest results here [[link]15
Since I always gained from the reddit community I'm want to give redditors a 3% discount on my commission rate. If you'd like to make use of this offer just pm with your registered email address. Looking forward working with you!
Be safe and always do your own research.

Advice and sources for newbies:

Welcome! Here are some info, advice and sources for newbies to get you started (what to buy? stick to Bitcoin):
When you come asking if or when is a good time to buy, the answer is: Buy now, always Hodl in FUD times (Bitcoin has "died" many times, but Moneybadger don't care, buy the dips and never panic-sell, stuff like: "China ban Bitcoin...again!" will keep happening again and again.
BTC is the best money.

bitloader.cc SCAM!!! SCAM!!! SCAM!!!
Website link: https://bitloader.cc/
I have already reported to the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) & Google. I lost my money. Worth of $820 BTC. Not only me. All website users lost their money. This is a completely scam website.
They offer virtual & plastic visa cards. We need to send & load money first. (Minimum 0.1 BTC for ordering cards) After that no any response. No cards!! No money!! You can see your balance on the website. But it can not be get back.
Website’s contact email ” [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) “. But there is no email for that email address. It’s a fake e-mail address. (emails return to sender) Automated Live Chat(bot). No any human support. All contact details are fake.
They have also created fake positive reviews on other websites. Fake reviews: http://bestbitcoinmixer.com/bitloader-anonymous-bitcoin-mixe#comment-741 http://bestbitcoincard.reviews/bitpay/ https://www.quora.com/Is-there-any-Bitcoin-debit-card-that-can-be-shipped-to-India ( Tad Graham )
Everybody can easily trust the site according to the reviews. Do not trust them, do not lose your money.

Receive and transfer money, from cents (micropayments) to thousands:
  • Cheap regardless of amount $$$ sent (more scaling apps coming)
  • Borderless (no country can stop it from going in/out or confiscate)
  • Trustless (nobody needs to trust anybody for it to work)
  • Privacy (no need to expose personal information)
  • Securely (encrypted cryptographically and can’t be confiscated)
  • Permissionless (no approval from central powers needed)
  • Instantly (from seconds to a few minutes)
  • Open source (auditable by anybody)
  • Worldwide distributed (from anywhere to anywhere on the planet)
  • Censorship resistant (no government can stop its use)
  • Peer-to-peer (no intermediaries with a cut)
  • Portable (easier to carry/move than cash, gold and silver)
  • Public ledger (transparent, seen by everybody)
  • Scalable (each bitcoin is divisible down to 8 decimals)
  • Decentralized (distributed with no single point of failure)
  • Deflationary (its supply goes down with time until reaching 21 million ever)
  • Immutable global registry (can’t be altered/hacked by nobody)
  • No chargebacks-No fraud ('push' vs' 'pull' transactions).?
And that’s just as currency, Bitcoin has many more uses and applications.

It's never too late for the Bitcoin party:
When you come asking if or when is a good time to buy, the answer is: Buy now, always [Hodl]1 in [FUD times]2 (Bitcoin has ["died"]3 many times, but [Moneybadger]4 don't care, [buy the dips]5 and never panic-sell, stuff like: ["China ban Bitcoin...again!"]6 will [keep happening]7 again and [again]8 .
Here's Bitcoin's [response]9 to Jamie Dimon. Stick to the [real Bitcoin]10 through all the ['forks' and 'splits']11 that accomplish nothing but new mediocre, unsafe and centralized altcoins, [strengthen/immunize]12 Bitcoin and give you free altcoins to buy more Bitcoin.
All [Central Powers look silly]13 trying to [control or ban]14 it. Learn from [history]15 and listen to this [absolute Boss]16 . There will never be enough Bitcoin for every existing millionaire to own just ONE SINGLE BITCOIN, [Total number of millionaires (in USD value) worldwide is around 33 million]17 . BTC is the [best money]18 .
Also relax, you are actually an [early adopter]19 if you start investing today, [mentally prepare]20 yourself for healthy and expected market volatility/dips/corrections/"crashes" (check out this amazing ['Corrections Trends Perspective']21 ) and remember all this:
Follow this basic rules of Bitcoin:
  • Never try to time the market. [Dollar cost average]22 by buying what you can afford to lose every week.
  • Once Bitcoin in wallet-[HODL!]23 (never panic-sell), if the price goes down, buy the dips.
  • Never, ever, [short Bitcoin]24 .
It is always a good time to buy Bitcoin if you are [hodling long term]25 and not just for [day trading]26 , so this is a great [strategy]27 . Remember that Bitcoin has practically been up most of the time, [and the road to the moon is paved with minor corrections]28 (Bitcoin is never really "down" when you zoom-out).
Everybody parroting: "[The bitcoin bubble is about to pop]29 " since 2009, don't know that bitcoin is a decentralized system with mathematically fixed, deflationary and limited supply currency and its growth is [exponential]30 , not linear.
So is not farfetched to say that it will be at 100,000 by 2020, since it came from less than $1 to $5,000 in less than 10 years, and it hasn't even hit the bottom part of the exponential ['S-Curve' of adoption] ([link]69 ). Check out this great 2017 MIT study: ["The Cryptocurrency Market Is Growing Exponentially"]31 . Patience [pays]32 , don't listen to the ["Expert Analysts on MSM"]33 .
Bitcoin is a [Moneybadger]34 that get's stronger and immunized with [every new attack]35 and this [broad picture of its price since infancy]36 (1 year candles on a logarithmic scale) shows Bitcoin growth is not a "bubble" but it's [exponential]37 (bigger "bubbles" every time), this old [logarithmic scale]38 has been accurate so far.
Learn the difference between [Inflation (dollar) and Deflation (Bitcoin)]39 and just take a look at the fiat >20 trillion (and growing fast) [debt clock]40 to get a visual shock of unlimited fiat supply (vs limited Bitcoin/Gold supply).
Bitcoin has outperformed every other currency, commodity, stock and asset since its inception in 2009: ["2017: Bitcoin Beats Stocks, Bonds, And Gold, Again”]41 . Bitcoin, the [Moneybadger]42 , is the first unseizable store of value in human history, unlike gold, equities, or fiat, it can't be confiscated if stored correctly. How banks think [blockchain will disrupt their industry]43 . Check out these Bitcoin [Economy]44 and Bitcoin [Transaction]45 infographics.
Also, remember its [fixed, limited supply of 21 million coins ever,]46 there are just ~4.5 million (~20%) bitcoins left to be mined till 2140 and the production will keep decreasing ("halving") every [4 years till then]47 . So, remember [this]48 and [don't wait for the Bitcoin "bubble" to burst]49 or for the price to drop significantly again, because you could be waiting forever:
